A new space to park at Syndal Station
Added: 9 November 2015
Last month saw the opening of the new multi-deck car park at Syndal Station as a part of the $10.8 million car park upgrade project.
The brand new four-level car park at the corner of Blackburn Road and Coleman Parade provides an additional 250 spaces for Syndal Station users, reducing the strain caused by the high demand for customer parking.
“A larger car park will reduce demand and congestion on the local road network, while opening up more parking options for local residents and visitors to local businesses,” CEO of Public Transport Victoria, Gary Liddle said.
Syndal Station now provides a total of 590 spaces, including nine accessible spaces, three parents with prams spaces and two emergency services spaces.
“Syndal Station is now one of the busiest stations on the Glen Waverley line, with over 2,600 customers using the station each weekday. This upgrade will help to cater for the rapid growth in the area over recent years,” Mr Liddle said.
The design of the building incorporates natural air circulation, lighting, CCTV cameras, and a covered public access ramp that connects each level.
Secure bicycle storage is also available within the multi-deck car park with space for 26 bicycles.
Combined with the ramps, stairs and room for future lifts, the Syndal multi-deck car park provide accessible station parking that eases the load on residential streets and retail parking.
The Syndal multi-deck car park is part of the public transport network with no charge to rail customers who wish to use it.
The new car park has been delivered by Metro and contractors Watpac on behalf of PTV.
