Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for April 2016, showing an improvement in punctuality on all three modes of public transport.
- Metro delivered 92.9 per cent of services on time in April, compared to 91.5 per cent last month
- V/Line delivered 88.2 per cent of services on time in April, compared to 82.4 per cent last month
- Yarra Trams delivered 82.6 per cent of services on time in April, compared to 81.6 per cent last month
Public Transport Victoria Acting Executive Director, Performance and Contract Management, Warwick Horsley said passengers were benefiting from an increasingly reliable service.
Metro’s punctuality increased in April, marking its 49th consecutive month of delivering more than 90 per cent of services on time.
“Metro is continuing to deliver strong results, rising above its 12-month average of 92.3 per cent in April,” Mr Horsley said.
Yarra Trams delivered an improvement in punctuality, coinciding with the official opening of the new Preston Tram Depot which can house up to 70 E-Class trams.
“It’s pleasing to see Yarra Trams improved their performance as they manage an ongoing program to modernise Melbourne’s tram network,” Mr Horsley said.
“When all 70 E-Class trams are in operation by the end of 2018, we will have added capacity for close to 15,000 extra passengers.”
V/Line’s performance increased as a result of more trains returning to the tracks in March, which had a flow on effect in April.
“V/Line’s performance has been steadily improving as more train services return to normal,” Mr Horsley said.
“V/Line is on track for the full restoration of services by the middle of the year.”
The April performance results are now available on the PTV website at Track Record.
