Better bus services on the way for Wallan
Added: 23 January 2018
Bus services in and around Wallan will be expanded and upgraded, with new routes, more services on Saturdays and longer service hours during the week.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) announced from 30 April 2018, two new town bus routes and a new shuttle service will be created to serve passengers in growing areas of Wallan.
The new Wallan Station to Wallan Central service will maintain key connections provided by current services, including to Wallan Town Centre.
The new Wallan Station to Springridge service will travel north along High Street towards Springridge, boosting coverage for people living and working in western and northern Wallan.
Both new services will run from Monday to Saturday, giving Wallan residents a weekend town bus for the first time.
A new shuttle bus between the Wallara Waters estate and Wallan Station will connect weekday passengers to trains in the morning and evening.
Services on all three routes will be timed to connect with trains at Wallan Station, making it easier for commuters to get to work, school or wherever else they need to go.
25 new bus stops will be installed to give passengers convenient access to these services.
Executive Director of Network Service Delivery at Public Transport Victoria, Laura Lo Bianco-Smith, said the changes are in response to the needs of this growing community.
“It’s important that public transport grows with communities such as Wallan. These changes will deliver more buses, more often, to more parts of Wallan.”
The new services will be introduced on 30 April 2018. Timetables and maps will be available around a month earlier via the Network Changes section of the PTV website.
