Bus impacts due to industrial action

Added: 10 July 2018

Planned industrial action by Transport Workers Union (TWU) drivers employed by CDC Victoria will go ahead today, Tuesday 10 July.

This action will have a significant impact on bus services in Ballarat, Geelong and routes in Melbourne’s west and east.

Train (metropolitan and regional), tram and other bus services not operated by CDC, will not be affected by this industrial action and are operating as normal.

CEO of PTV Jeroen Weimar said people in the affected areas need to be aware of the impact to their normal bus service.

“It's disappointing that this action will be going ahead as it will cause real inconvenience to many of our bus passengers,” he said.

“We apologise to our passengers and ask those who would normally travel on a CDC Victoria bus to defer their travel or make alternative arrangements where possible,” he said.

The affected routes are:

Ballarat

All bus routes.

Geelong

Routes 1, 10, 11, 12, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 43.

Melbourne

Routes 150, 151, 153, 160, 161, 166, 167, 170, 180, 181, 190, 191, 192,

406, 407, 408, 409, 410, 411, 412, 414, 415, 417, 418, 419, 421, 423, 424, 425, 439, 441, 443, 461, 494, 495, 496, 497, 498,

601, 605, 606, 612, 623, 624, 625, 626, 630.

The disruption will impact all of Ballarat’s bus network, approximately half of the buses in Geelong and about one in eight of Melbourne’s bus routes.

Mr Weimar said that he was hopeful further action could be avoided.

“Negotiations are ongoing between CDC Victoria and the TWU and we trust both parties will be able to come to a resolution as soon as possible,” he said.
