Explore the world of Melbourne by bus
Added: 12 May 2017
With over 700 routes travelling through inner Melbourne to our outer suburbs, exploring the world of Melbourne by bus has never been easier.
PTV CEO Jeroen Weimar said that significant investment in modernising Melbourne’s bus network has an increase in the number of people choosing to explore Melbourne by bus.
“124 million passenger trips were taken on buses in Melbourne in 2016, and we’re continually working to make the experience of travelling by bus even more convenient,” Mr Weimar said.
“We’re introducing Better Bus Networks that connect our passengers to train services and key destinations around Melbourne, in addition to providing real time bus information on the PTV app.”
The Explore Melbourne by Bus campaign launched by PTV is designed to help Melburnians get to know their local bus routes and where they can take them.
“Many Melburnians don’t realise their local bus routes provide convenient and frequent connections to iconic destinations like Luna Park, Werribee Mansion, and the South Melbourne Markets,” Mr Weimar said.
“We’ve redesigned bus networks to provide more reliable connections to train services and key destination that travel along simpler and more direct routes,”
“Buses have changed so much, we’ve worked to make them cleaner, safer, and most importantly more convenient for our passengers,”
“With real time information available on the PTV app you can easily plan your journey without needing to wait, making it a much easier experience than ever before.”
Passengers can explore bus routes in their local area by visiting melbournebybus.com.au and using the interactive network map to find out the most convenient bus routes and where they can go.
Real time information is now available for metropolitan bus services across Melbourne via the PTV app using the Next 5 feature, passengers can save their local bus stops to conveniently check when the next bus service will arrive.
The campaign has seen PTV work closely with a number of Australian artists to capture the iconography of local areas in Melbourne including the City of Port Phillip, Wyndham, Footscray and Moreland.
“It’s great to see how the creativity of these local artists can capture the vibrancy of some of Melbourne’s iconic destinations that can be accessed by modern, clean and frequent bus services,” Mr Weimar said.
“I’d like to encourage people to jump online and visit melbournebybus.com.au to discover the destinations at your doorstep.”
