Major improvement works for public transport this long weekend

Major maintenance and infrastructure improvement works will be carried out on the train and tram networks this Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Public transport passengers are encouraged to plan ahead as service changes may affect their travel plans.
Extra trains and trams will run to all footy games across the long weekend, while some services will change to make way for the major works. A special timetable will also apply on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday.
Works will continue on the Regional Rail Link on Saturday and Sunday, with buses replacing sections of track on the Sydenham, Ballarat and Bendigo lines.
Works to modernise Melbourne’s tram network will continue throughout the long weekend with a $2.1 million program to renew tram tracks in Swan Street.
Yarra Trams will be undertaking track replacement of just over 500 metres of track between Park Grove and Yarra Boulevard.
Route 70 trams will divert via Wellington Parade and Bridge Road, and a special shuttle tram service will run between the city and Park Grove.
These significant works are vital to secure the long term benefits to the train and tram networks.

Trains and most buses will run to a Saturday timetable on the Queen’s Birthday. Trams will run to a special timetable which is based on the Saturday frequency of service.
Passengers travelling with myki will pay the public holiday rate of just $3.30 for all day travel in Zones 1 and 2.
