Public Transport Victoria (PTV) today published performance results for October 2017.
- Metro delivered 92.6 per cent of services on-time in October.
- Yarra Trams delivered 82.5 per cent of services on-time in October.
- V/Line delivered 87.9 per cent of services on-time in October.
PTV CEO Jeroen Weimar said October saw 92.6 per cent of Metro train services running on time, above the 12-month average of 91.7 per cent.
“This is another strong result from Metro ahead of the introduction of a new contract from 30 November which will see a new target of 92.5 per cent of services on-time,” Mr Weimar said.
“It’s been another busy month on the network with continued works to deliver the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade, as well as preparing the Cranbourne/Pakenham lines for the arrival of longer High Capacity Metro Trains in mid-2019.”
V/Line’s trend of improved punctuality results for passenger services continued in October, with 87.9 per cent of services running on time, 3.9 per cent above the 12-month average across the network.
“It’s good to see continued improvement in V/Line performance data delivering more regional services, upgrading country crossings, and introducing more VLocity carriages to the busiest services,” Mr Weimar said.
“We’ve got a long journey ahead of us as we continue to improve every line on our regional network, with the $1.57 billion Regional Rail Revival set to give regional Victorians the services they deserve.”
On the tram network, 82.5 per cent of services ran on time in October with trams running to get passengers to the Melbourne Show and the AFL Grand Final.
“I’m pleased to see Yarra Trams continue to meet the tougher performance thresholds being introduced on 30 November to run 82 per cent of services on time,” Mr Weimar said.
“We’re continuing to invest more in improving our trams with the new contract delivering a boosted $81.5 million yearly spend on maintenance works and a further 23 E Class trams due to join the 57 already running on our network.”
Better contracts that will put passengers first with higher performance targets for Metro Trains and Yarra Trams will commence on 30 November.
October performance results are available on the PTV website at Track Record.
