September performance results published

Added: 12 October 2015

Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for September 2015, showing sustained performance delivery across most of Victoria’s rail and tram operations.

  • Metro has delivered 93 per cent of services on-time in September;
  • V/Line has delivered 89 per cent of services on-time, an improvement on last month; and
  • Yarra Trams has delivered 85.5 per cent of services on-time.

Public Transport Victoria Director of Performance and Contract Management, Jeroen Weimar said that performance across much of the network was providing customers with a reliable service.

Yarra Trams, while dealing with industrial action and various road works, has maintained its performance for this month.

“Despite increased road works throughout September, Yarra Trams has managed to maintain its on-time performance compared to last month,” Mr Weimar said.

“We are particularly pleased that improved coordination with VicRoads to minimise the impact of traffic disruption has delivered reliable tram services for our customers.”

Mr Weimar said that on Metro trains, customers were now benefiting from the 42nd consecutive month of more than 90 per cent of services being delivered on-time.

“The whole Metro team rose to the challenge of supporting some major events this month – including the new Grand Final public holiday – and minimised the disruption to customers from industrial action earlier in the month,” Mr Weimar said.

Mr Weimar said V/Line on-time performance had improved on most lines in September compared with the previous month.

“It’s been good to see an improvement in on-time performance on both the Geelong and Ballarat lines from August to September,” Mr Weimar said.

“Every day V/Line analyses the causes of delays that affect the most customers. Some delays are outside V/Line’s control, like emergency services and police requests, but the focus is on finding solutions to issues that affect the same trains more than once.”
