The Centenary of ANZAC 2014 to 2018 marks 100 years since Australia’s involvement in the First World War.
A number of events are being held throughout Melbourne and Victoria to commemorate 100 Years of ANZAC Day on Wednesday 25 April 2018.
To assist you in finding the information you need, please refer to the list below:

Free travel during ANZAC Day commemoration activities
Veterans and War Widows can travel for free on Victoria’s public transport network on 24, 25 and 26 April, to help them attend ANZAC Day commemoration activities.
Free travel is also extended to Australian Defence Force members, Scouts and Guides and school students on ANZAC Day, Wednesday 25 April.
Veterans and War Widows simply need to travel with one of the below forms of identification:
- Wear their uniform
- Wear their service medals
- Wear an ex-service association or returned from active service or war widows badge
- Present their DVA Gold or White card
- Present their Category “V’’ Victorian Public Transport Concession Card
Veterans and war widows travelling with one of the above forms of identification on these days do not need to carry a valid ticket.
Australian Defence Force members, Scouts and Guides and school students must wear their uniform on ANZAC Day to be eligible for free travel.
Travelling to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Shrine of Remembrance
The 2018 Shrine Dawn Service will be held from 6am to 6.30am on Wednesday 25 April at the Shrine of Remembrance.
Customers wishing to attend the 2018 Shrine Dawn Service can do so in the following ways:
- Catch public transport near to the Shrine Reserve
- Catch a free PTV shuttle bus from selected RSLs and locations around Melbourne. PLEASE NOTE: Bookings have now closed for the shuttle bus.
Travelling to other Dawn Services throughout Melbourne and Victoria

Service disruptions during ANZAC Day
There will be multiple service disruptions throughout Melbourne and Victoria on Wednesday 25 April 2018, due to ANZAC Day commemoration activities.
