Better Stations Amenity Upgrades
As part of the Victorian Government’s investment in the train network, we’re making improvements to passenger amenities, safety features and accessibility at metropolitan and regional train stations to improve people’s experience when travelling on the network.
Upgrades to stations help provide diverse journeys that are safe and inclusive, inspiring confidence in users, and playing a critical role in connecting people to social and economic opportunities.
Metropolitan train stations
We’re upgrading six train stations across Melbourne under an almost $21 million package. This is the third Better Stations tranche. Stations being upgraded as part of this tranche include:
- Merri
- Thornbury
- Lalor
- Glen Waverley
- Jacana
- Victoria Park
The program is part of the Victorian Government’s $328.4 million investment into critical public transport and road maintenance upgrades to create and support more than 600 jobs as part of the state’s COVID-19 economic recovery.
Regional train stations
We’re upgrading two regional train stations with $3.8 million invested over two years.
Stations being upgraded as part of this tranche include:
- Woodend (Macedon District)
- Warrnambool (South West Coast District)
