Major disruptions on regional trains
Be sure to plan ahead and allow more time for travel during major works this spring, especially if you’re travelling over the school holiday period.
To avoid delays:
- plan your journey before you travel using our Journey planner
- allow extra travel time
- consider alternatives if you can and travel outside of peak times where possible.
There'll also be a range of other smaller disruptions for essential works across the network.

Major disruptions in September
Warrnambool and Geelong lines
- From Saturday 2 September to Sunday 10 September, coaches replace Geelong and Warrnambool trains between Geelong and Warrnambool.
Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines
- From Saturday 16 September to Thursday 28 September, coaches replace trains between Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough.
Major disruptions in October
Shepparton Line
- From Sunday 1 October to Friday 24 November, coaches replace Shepparton trains between Seymour and Shepparton.
Major disruptions in November
Warrnambool and Geelong lines
- From Wednesday 8 November to Thursday 23 November, coaches replace Geelong and Warrnambool trains between Geelong and Warrnambool.
Traralgon and Bairnsdale Lines
- From Thursday 23 November to Saturday 9 December, coaches replace trains between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
