Croydon Station Bus Interchange safety project

We’re upgrading the Croydon Station Bus Interchange to improve pedestrian safety.

We’re modifying the existing long zebra crossing arrangement into three separate stage crossings to make it safer for pedestrians to cross.

We’re also redesigning the existing bus stop islands with accessible ramps and installing fencing to protect commuters as they move through the area.

In July 2021, the State Government announced plans to remove the Coolstore Road level crossing by building a rail bridge over Coolstore Road and building a new Croydon Station.

Removing the level crossing will provide the best opportunity to connect Croydon’s city centre.

This interim solution is designed to reduce existing safety risks for commuters using the Croydon Station Bus Interchange before level crossing removal works take place.

Works are scheduled to take place over two weeks from Wednesday 16 February 2022.
