New rail timetables and new Melton train and bus services – December 2019
From Monday 2 December, the Ballarat line will have a new timetable including 10 new peak train services each week between Melton and Southern Cross Station. Timetables for some coach services on the Ballarat line will also be adjusted to maintain or improve connections to trains.
The brand-new Cobblebank Station will open, giving residents in Melbourne’s outer west access to 285 train services each week, as well as a new bus route that will connect to Melton Station.
Route 454 Melton Station to Cobblebank Station will mean locals can leave the car at home, with services every 40 minutes on weekdays, and every 60 minutes on weekends.
From Sunday 1 December, passengers on the Cranbourne, Pakenham, Werribee, Sunbury, Craigieburn, Upfield, Geelong, Bendigo, Echuca, Swan Hill, Seymour and Shepparton and Gippsland lines will have new timetables with minor changes. Some coach services will also have new timetables to maintain connections to trains.
Southern Cross Station will open earlier at 6am on Sunday mornings making it easier for people on the Werribee, Sunbury, Craigieburn and Upfield lines to get home after a night out or a shift at work.
Passengers on the Geelong line will have more options to travel into the city on weekends with an extra Saturday morning service that has previously run as a special event train to be added to the timetable.
Bus services will be boosted on the Bellarine Peninsula with extra weekend services to begin on routes 55, 56, 60 and 61 to Geelong Station. Updated timetables for these bus routes will be available from Friday 15 November 2019.
