July school holiday works

A 16 day construction blitz from 1 July will prepare Melbourne for the Metro Tunnel project. There will also be road and rail upgrades across the state.

The most significant impact is expected to be on St Kilda Road between 1 and 11 July, with buses replacing trams for 2km between Domain Road and High Street and traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.

Due to road closures, we’re anticipating 30 minute delays on St Kilda Road and recommend that people avoid the area if they can. However priority will be given to buses and bus replacement services.

If you do need to travel, plan ahead or allow for extra travel time and take an alternative route.

July has been chosen to undertake these works because it is a quieter month on our roads due to school holidays.
