More choice with more services

From Sunday 27 August there will be a new V/Line timetable and 151 new services every week in regional Victoria. The new services will run on weekdays and weekends, giving you more choice when you travel on the Geelong, Ballarat, Ararat, Bendigo, Seymour, Shepparton and Traralgon lines.

The changes include:

  • 18 more weekly services on the Ballarat and Bendigo lines, to get you home faster on weeknights and improve frequency from 90 to 60 minutes during the day on weekends.
  • 74 extra services each week for the Geelong corridor. This includes 30 new services to improve the frequency of weekend trains from 60 to 40 minutes between 7am and 7pm.
  • Weekday Warrnambool services will no longer stop at Tarneit or Wyndham Vale. Most weekday Warrnambool services will also run express through North Geelong and Lara. 30 new Geelong line trains will stop at stations that Warrnambool trains don’t stop at.
  • 18 trains every week on the Traralgon line.
  • 41 more services will stop at Richmond Station to get you to the MCG and other events.
  • 19 Ballarat and Wendouree services will be extended to run to and from Ararat each week, including three weekday services and a return service every Saturday and Sunday.
  • A service to and from Seymour and Shepparton will be added on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • An extra 219 weekly services will stop at to Deer Park and extra 88 trains will stop at Caroline Springs, thanks to new stopping patterns for off-peak Geelong and Ballarat trains.

The times and stopping patterns of trains across the network will change, so make sure to check the new timetables.

Ballarat and Ararat lines

From 27 August, we’re adding 18 new weekly services on the Ballarat Line and 19 on the Ararat Line, giving you more options to get around. Weekday trains will now run every hour between 7am and 7pm.

New weekday trains and changes:

  • new Saturday and Sunday services from Southern Cross to Wendouree departing at 11.16am and 2.16pm
  • new Saturday service from Southern Cross to Wendouree departing at 11.16pm
  • the 12.16pm train from Southern Cross to Wendouree will be extended to Ararat
  • two new Saturday and Sunday services from Wendouree to Southern Cross departing at 12.01pm and 3.12pm.
  • new service from Ararat at 11.08am Saturday and 11.15am Sunday forming trains to Melbourne at Ballarat.

 New weekend trains and changes:

  • 11.16am and 2.16pm trains from Southern Cross to Wendouree on Saturday and Sunday 12.01pm and 3.12pm trains from Wendouree to Southern Cross on Saturday and Sunday
  • 11.08am from Ararat to Melbourne on Saturday
  • 11.15am from Aarat to Melbourne on  Sunday
  • The 12.16pm from Southern Cross to Wendouree will be extended to Ararat.

Timetables for coaches to and from Nhill, Dimboola, Horsham, Geelong, Ballarat, Ararat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Mildura, Casterton, Hamilton, Mount Gambier, Ouyen, Halls Gap, Donald and Maryborough will also change. Click here to view your new coach timetable.

Bus coordination

Bacchus Marsh

  • Routes 433, 434, 435 – There will be one extra return trip in both the morning and afternoon peak travel times for each route. Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Ballarat

  • Routes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 – Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Caroline Springs

  • Route 460 - Timetable will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Melton

  • Routes 453, 455, 457, 458 – Timetable will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

  • Route 459 - The timetable will also be corrected to reflect accurate run-times.

Wendouree

  • Routes 11, 12, 31 – Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Bendigo Line

From 27 August we’re adding 18 new weekly services on the Bendigo Line, giving you more options to get around on weekends and during off-peak times on weekdays. Weekend trains on will now run every hour between 7am and 7pm.

New weekday services and changes:

  • new service at 9.52pm from Southern Cross to Bendigo
  • new service at 11.52pm from Southern Cross to Bendigo from Monday to Thursday.

 New weekend services and changes:

  • new Saturday services at 11.22am, 2.22pm and 9:25pm from Southern Cross to Bendigo
  • new services at 11.22am, 2:22pm and 7:22pm from Southern Cross to Bendigo
  • two new Saturday services from Bendigo to Southern Cross departing at 1.25pm and 8.09pm
  • a new Sunday service from Bendigo to Southern Cross departing at 1.25pm

Timetables for coaches to and from Ballarat, Southern Cross, Bendigo, Geelong, Daylesford, Swan Hill, Mildura, Barham, Moama, Maryborough, Donald, Lancefield, Gisborne, Maldon and Tooleybuc will also change.

Bus coordination

Bendigo

  • Routes 5, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 70, 71 – Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Gisborne

  • Route 474 – Moved the 3.05pm service to 3.10pm.

Swan Hill

  • Swan Hill to Tooleybuc (via Nyah West) Coach – Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Geelong and Warrnambool lines

From 27 August, we’re adding 74 new services on the Geelong Line, across weekends and off-peak times on weekdays. The new weekend services deliver an average 40 minute frequency between 7am-7pm.

Weekday Warrnambool trains will run express through some stations between Geelong and Melbourne.

New weekday services:

  • Departing Southern Cross Station at 10.45pm to Waurn Ponds
  • Departing Southern Cross to Geelong at 1.15am Monday to Thursday
  • Departing Waurn Ponds at 10.04pm to Southern Cross.

There are also changes to the arrival and departure time of coaches to and from:

Geelong, Apollo Bay, Ballarat, Bendigo, Portland, Heywood and Mount Gambier, Colac, Casterton and Timboon.

Camperdown

  • Timboon to Camperdown (via Cobden) coaches - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Geelong

  • Routes 1, 20 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.
  • Route 22 – Improved connections at North Shore Station.
  • Routes 24, 25 - The timetable will also be corrected to reflect accurate run-times.
  • Routes 30, 31, 32, 40, 41, 42 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.
  • Route 43 – This route will deviate via Belmont High School in the mornings and afternoons.
  • Routes 50, 51, 55, 56, 60, 61 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Lara

  • Routes 10, 11, 12 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Marshall

  • Routes 50, 51 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

North Shore

  • Route 22 – Improved connections at North Shore Station.
  • Route 23 – Timetable will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Tarneit

  • Route 150 - Introduced connections on weekends.
  • Route 151 – Timetable will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.
  • Routes 160, 167, 170, 180 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Wyndham Vale

  • Route 166, 191, 192 - Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.
  • Route 190 – Increased frequency on week nights. Timetables will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Seymour and Shepparton lines

From 27 August we’re adding four new weekend services, giving you more options to get around.

New weekend trains and changes:

  • new service from Southern Cross to Shepparton departing at 12.52pm
  • new service from Shepparton to Southern Cross departing at 12.36pm
  • the 5.05pm Sunday service from Shepparton to Southern Cross will depart at the earlier time of 4.04pm to create a consistent service across the weekend.

Timetables for coaches to and from Seymour, Albury, Wodonga, Canberra, Moama, Barmah, Shepparton, Cobram, Tocumwal and Griffith will also change.

Coaches between Canberra and Albury will connect with trains at Wodonga Station, and will still stop at Albury Station for local customers. The 4.10pm coach from Albury to Canberra will now leave Wodonga Station at 11:05am.

  • Kilmore Town Service - Timetable will be adjusted to connect with trains on the new train timetable.

Traralgon Line

From 27 August we’re adding 18 new weekly trains, giving you more options to get around on weekends and during off-peak times on weekdays. The new weekend trains will give you a more consistent timetable and will stop at Richmond Station so you can get to the MCG and other events.

New weekday trains:

  • new 11.59pm  from Southern Cross to Traralgon, from Monday to Thursday
  • new 6.48pm from Traralgon to Southern Cross

New weekend trains:

  • 9.05am and 12.56pm trains from Southern Cross to Traralgon on Saturday and Sunday
  • 11.05pm from Southern Cross to Traralgon on Saturday
  • 8.30am and 3.54pm trains from Traralgon to Southern Cross on Saturday
  • 1.54pm and 3.54pm trains from Traralgon to Southern Cross on Sunday

Timetables for coaches to and from Canberra, Lake Tyers Beach, Bairnsdale, Sale, Marlo, Leongatha, Yarram, Inverloch, Batemans Bay, Traralgon and Cowes will also change.
