Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines: Coaches replacing trains from Saturday 23 September to Sunday, 8 October 2017

Due to track works, road coaches will replace train services on the Bairnsdale/Traralgon lines from the first service on Saturday 23 September until the last service on Thursday 28 September 2017, and on the Bairnsdale line from the first service on Friday 29 September until the last service on Sunday, 8 October 2017.

Journey times may be extended.

Please note: Sale and Traralgon train services will return in time for the AFL Grand Final public holiday on Friday 29 September, and the AFL Grand Final on Saturday 30 September.

Service changes

Saturday 23 September to Thursday, 28 September 2017

Road coaches will replace train services in both directions between Southern Cross Station and Traralgon/Bairnsdale stations.

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes.

From Friday 29 September to Sunday, 8 October 2017

Road coaches will replace Bairnsdale train services between Sale and Bairnsdale station.

Normally timetabled train services will operate between Southern Cross and Traralgon/Sale stations. 

Selected coaches from Bairnsdale to Sale will continue through to Traralgon/Southern Cross, dropping off customers at stations as required. 

Journey times may be extended by up to 15 minutes.

Sunday 1 October

Due to works on the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project, coaches will replace trains on Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsadale line services from midday until the last service on Sunday 1 October.

General Information

  • There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services
  • No pets or hot food allowed on replacement coaches
  • In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from:
    • The Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street
    • Flinders Street Station on Flinders Street opposite Degraves Street
  • Coaches do not stop at Clayton, customers can take a Metro train to and from Dandenong
  • Coaches do not stop at Richmond, customers can take a Metro train to and from Flinders Street or Caulfield
  • Customers needing special assistance, please call 1800 800 007 before travelling.
