Caulfield to Cranbourne/Pakenham stations: Temporary car park closures and changes to pedestrian access until mid-2018

There will be full and partial temporary long-term and short-term closures of station car parks and changes to pedestrian access in and around stations on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, due to works as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project and rail systems upgrades in preparation for High Capacity Metro Trains.

During construction, station car park users are encouraged to plan their travel and consider alternative transport to nearby stations and car parks.

Carnegie Station

Morton Avenue full car park closure: 

  • Morton Avenue car park is to complete the Carnegie Station precinct and begin construction of the surrounding open space.
  • Morton Avenue Disability Permit car spaces have been relocated to Shepparson Avenue, Carnegie until mid-2018.
  • To ensure there is no loss of parking for rail passengers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 342 additional car spaces.

Murrumbeena Station

Railway Parade corner car park closure: 

  • This car park is closed until late-2018. 
  • A Disability Permit space will remain adjacent to the old station entrance for the duration of the works.

Neerim Road and Railway Parade car park closures:

  • Neerim Road and Railway Parade car parks are closed until mid-2018 to allow for works to complete the Murrumbeena Station precinct and begin construction of the surrounding open space.
  • A Disability Permit space will remain near the station entrance on Railway Parade for the duration of the works.
  • To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail passengers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 342 additional car spaces.

Hughesdale Station

Car space closure: 

Four hour on-street parking on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is closed until the third quarter of 2018.

For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Car park closure: 

Hughesdale Station car park on the northern side of Poath Road opposite Willesden Road is closed until the third quarter of 2018.

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail passengers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 30 additional car spaces.

Huntingdale Station

Due to works as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project, Huntingdale Station car parks will be partially closed as follows:

  • Railway Avenue car park adjacent to Huntingdale Station (up to 15 spaces) until mid-September 2018, due to temporary staff facilities

Car spaces are also available at the existing station car park on Haughton Road, North Road and in the new station car park on Huntingdale Road.

Clayton Station

On-street gravel parking on Haughton Road, Clayton, across from Nicholson Court (up to 20 spaces) is temporarily closed for linear park construction until late September 2018.

To ensure there is ample parking available, the new station car park located on Carinish Road (up to 90 spaces) is now open. There are also up to 70 spaces available on Haughton Road, west of Clayton Road.

Disability Permit parking spaces are temporarily located within Clayton Station Haughton Road car park near Clayton Road.

Upon completion there will be a total of 332 car park spaces at Clayton Station as well as eight Disability Permit Spaces.

Springvale Station 

Due to upgrade works ahead of the introduction of High Capacity Metro Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham line, Springvale Station car parks will be partially closed as follows:

  • Car park off Lightwood Road opposite Elm Grove (up to 75 spaces) from 11pm Sunday 8 July 2018 until 4am Monday 16 July 2018.
  • Car park off Lightwood Road opposite Kintore Street (up to 95 spaces) from 4am Monday 16 July 2018 until 4am Monday 23 July 2018.

Noble Park Station

Douglas Street car park is currently closed as part of works to complete the new Noble Park Station precinct and begin construction of the surrounding open space.  Disability Permit parking spaces have been permanently relocated to a section of the station’s new car park off Mons Parade.

To ensure there is parking available near the station, all-day parking is available within sign-posted areas on Memorial Drive, Noble Park until late July 2018.

Parkiteer cage closure:

The Noble Park Station Douglas Street Parkiteer cage is closed until late August2018.

Freestanding bicycle hoops have been permanently relocated near the new station entrance off Mons Parade.

Alternative bicycle parking is available in Parkiteer cages at Springvale and Dandenong stations. Please note you can use your existing Parkiteer card to access other cages.

Mons Parade car park closure: 

Mons Parade car park is closed until late August 2018 to allow for works to complete the Noble Park Station precinct and the surrounding open space.

To ensure there is no loss of parking for rail passengers during construction, car parks have been extended to provide 166 additional car spaces at Sandown Park Station.

Yarraman Station

Yarraman Station car park on Hanna Street is partially closed (up to 25 spaces) until late July 2018.

Dandenong Station 

Due to platform extension works for the introduction of High Capacity Metro Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham line  Greenland Place car park will be partially closed (up to 15 spaces) from 11pm Sunday 15 July until 11pm Monday 27 August 2018.

Narre Warren Station

Due to upgrade works ahead of the introduction of High Capacity Metro Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham line, Narre Warren Station car parks will be partially closed as follows:

  • Eastern car park partial closure (up to 60 spaces) until early August 2018
  • Western car park partial closure (up to 30 spaces) from 4am Wednesday 11 July 2018 until early August 2018

Berwick Station

Berwick Station southern car park is partially closed (up to 20 spaces) until early October 2018. 

Please note Disability Permit car spaces will be relocated within the station car park during these works. Please follow signage in place.

Officer Station

To enable substation works, there will be a temporary closure of the gravel car park (up to 20 spaces) and shared use path on Station Street, Officer, from Monday 2 July to Friday 31 August 2018. For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works. 

Cardinia Road Station

Due to works as part of rail systems upgrades in preparation for High Capacity Metro Trains, Cardinia Road Station car park will be partially closed as follows:

A section of the car park south-west of the station (up to 55 spaces) will be temporarily closed from Sunday 6 May until late September 2018 due to substation construction works.

Upon completion of the substation, 39 spaces will be returned to the Cardinia Road Station south-west car park and 16 spaces will be provided at Officer Station.

Pakenham Station

Pakenham Station southern car park off Bald Hill Road will be partially closed (up to 50 spaces) from 11pm Sunday 3 June until mid-July 2018 due to platform extension works.

Alternative car parking options

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail passengers during construction, car parks have been extended to provide approximately:

  • 172 spaces at East Malvern Station
  • 80 spaces at Huntingdale Station
  • 166 spaces at Sandown Park Station

Pedestrian access changes

Carnegie Station

Please note the following permanent changes to footpath access around Carnegie Station:

  • The footpath from Carnegie Station to Hewitts Road has been permanently removed until the new shared use path is complete. Passengers are advised to detour via Morton Avenue, Shepparson Avenue, Jersey Parade and Tranmere Avenue.
  • The pedestrian rail crossing between Carnegie Station car park and Woorayl Street, near Chestnut Street is closed. Passengers are advised to detour via Koornang Road. 
  • The pedestrian crossing at Cosy Gum Road, Carnegie, is closed until open space construction is complete. Please follow detour in place via Grange Road or Koornang Road level crossings. 

Hughesdale Station

Poath Road pedestrian level crossing (eastern side) is closed. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the western side of Poath Road. The long-term closure is due to construction activities.

The shared use path located on the south side of Hughesdale Station, between Poath Road and Galbally Reserve, is closed.Please follow detour signs in place via Poath Road and Arthur Street. 

The pedestrian footpath on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is closed until late 2018.

Shared-use path (Oakleigh - Huntingdale stations)

The shared use path is closed from the eastern end of Oakleigh Station Portman Street car park to Huntingdale Station until end July 2018. 

Clayton Station

  • The corner of Clayton and Carinish roads will be partially closed from Wednesday 27 June until Wednesday 18 July 2018, while works continue on the Clayton Station precinct. There will be detours in place so pedestrians can still access the precinct. Please follow the signage in place. For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.
  • The footpath on the south side of Carinish Road, between Clayton Road and Mary Street is closed until late 2018. Please detour via the northern side of Carinish Road.
  • The shared use path on the south side of Carinish Road (between Flora Road and Madeleine Road) is closed to enable safe access to the rail corridor for construction of the new elevated rail structure over Clayton Road. Detour signs are in place at either end of the closure directing pedestrians and cyclists to cross to the north side of Carinish Road.
  • The footpath on Haughton Road extending from the end of the car park (between Pullyn Street and Collier Road) is closed and the area fenced off.Detour via the south side of Haughton Road.
  • The pedestrian crossing near Pullyn Street, linking Haughton and Carinish roads, permanently closed on Thursday 10 May. A new pedestrian crossing located around 70m east, in line with Kanooka Grove is now open.

Clayton Road: 

  • Clayton Road pedestrian crossing (west side) will be open from Wednesday 27 June until Wednesday 18 July 2018. The crossing will then reclose to complete open space works.

Noble Park Station

To access Noble Park Station, use the temporary entrance located off Mons Parade. The existing pedestrian underpass is now closed, with access to and from Douglas Street via the temporary pedestrian path.

Heatherton Road pedestrian level crossing (north side) is closed. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the southern side of Heatherton Road.

These closure dates are subject to change. For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.   

Officer Station
