Caulfield to Cranbourne/Pakenham stations: Temporary car park closures and changes to pedestrian access until late-2018

There will be full and partial temporary long-term and short-term closures of station car parks and changes to pedestrian access in and around stations on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, due to works as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project and rail systems upgrades in preparation for High Capacity Metro Trains.

During construction, station car park users are encouraged to plan their travel and consider alternative transport to nearby stations and car parks.

Carnegie Station

Morton Avenue full car park closure: 

Morton Avenue car park is closed to complete the Carnegie Station precinct and begin construction of the surrounding open space.

Morton Avenue Disability Permit car spaces have been relocated to Shepparson Avenue, Carnegie until late-2018.

Murrumbeena Station

Neerim Road and Railway Parade car park closures:

Neerim Road and Railway Parade car parks are closed to allow for works to complete the Murrumbeena Station precinct and begin construction of the surrounding open space.

A Disability Permit space will remain near the station entrance on Railway Parade for the duration of the works. 

Hughesdale Station

Car space closure: 

Four hour on-street parking on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is closed until the third quarter of 2018.

For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Car park closure: 

Hughesdale Station car park on the northern side of Poath Road opposite Willesden Road is closed until the third quarter of 2018.

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail passengers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 30 additional car spaces.

Clayton Station

The car park off Haughton Road, between Thomas Street and Pullyn Street, is now open, providing an extra 197 car spaces for passengers.  When completed, there will be a total of 332 car spaces.  

On-street gravel parking on Haughton Road, Clayton, across from Nicholson Court (up to 20 spaces) is temporarily closed for linear park construction until late September 2018.

To ensure there is ample parking available, the new station car park located on Carinish Road (up to 90 spaces) is now open. There are also up to 70 spaces available on Haughton Road, west of Clayton Road.

The permanent Disability Permit parking and Rail Staff parking area will be open from Saturday 1 September. It is located east, directly behind the station. Vehicle access is via Haughton Road and pedestrian access is via either Haughton or Carinish roads. The current temporary Disability Permit parking spaces will be maintained until mid-September.

Westall Station

Train replacement bus interchange operations on Rayhur Street at Westall Station will require:

  • Full closure of Westall Station Rayhur Street car park from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.
  • Partial closure of on-street parking on the northern side of Rayhur Street at Westall Station (up to 15 spaces) from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.
  • Disability Permit parking spaces located west of the station to be relocated next to the existing Disability Permit parking spaces east of the station towards Westall Road from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.

Please adhere to signage as parking restrictions may apply within signposted areas. Penalties may apply.

Noble Park Station

The car park off Douglas Street opposite Thomas Street, will be closed (up to 30 spaces) from 11pm Friday 21 September until 4am Monday 24 September 2018. 

The car park off Douglas Street in the station precinct is now open and provides 45 new car spaces.

The second car park, between Mons Parade and Douglas Street has also opened, providing an extra 201 car spaces for passengers.

Disability Permit parking spaces have been permanently relocated to a section of the station’s new car park off Mons Parade.

Yarraman Station

Yarraman Station on-street parking at Hanna Street is partially closed (up to 30 spaces) from 9pm Monday 3 September until late September due to shared use path and drainage works.

Dandenong Station 

Due to platform extension works, Greenland Place station car park will be partially closed (up to 60 spaces) from 11pm Wednesday 19 September to 4am Monday 24 September 2018.

Train replacement bus interchange operations at Dandenong Station car park will require:

  • The full closure of the Cheltenham Road western car park from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018. Up to 12 spaces in the eastern section car park will also be closed during this time.
  • Disability Permit Parking will be relocated to the eastern section of the Cheltenham Road car park from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.
  • The gravel car park at the end of Station Street will also be closed from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.

Hallam Station

A section of the car park (up to 80 spaces) off Star Crescent on the northern side of Hallam Station will be closed from 11pm Friday 21 September to 4am Monday 24 September 2018.

Narre Warren Station

Due to upgrade works ahead of the introduction of High Capacity Metro Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, Narre Warren Station western car park will be partially closed (up to 85 spaces) from 11pm Friday 21 September until 4am Monday 24 September 2018.

Berwick Station

Due to substation works, a section of Berwick Station western car park off Clyde Road will be partially closed (up to 25 spaces) from 11pm Tuesday 18 September to late October 2018. Please note pedestrian access may be affected during these works.

Berwick Station southern car park is partially closed (up to 20 spaces) until early October 2018. 

Please note Disability Permit car spaces will be relocated within the station car park during these works. Please follow signage in place.

Officer Station

To enable substation works, there will be a temporary closure of the gravel car park (up to 20 spaces) and shared use path on Station Street, Officer, from Monday 2 July to late-2018. For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works. 

Cardinia Road Station

Due to works as part of rail systems upgrades in preparation for High Capacity Metro Trains, Cardinia Road Station car park will be partially closed as follows:

A section of the car park south-west of the station (up to 55 spaces) will be temporarily closed from Sunday 6 May until late September 2018 due to substation construction works.

Upon completion of the substation, 39 spaces will be returned to the Cardinia Road Station south-west car park and 16 spaces will be provided at Officer Station.

Pakenham Station

Train replacement bus interchange operations at Railway Avenue, Pakenham, will require a road closure and suspension of on-street parking between Main Street and Henry Street from 11pm Thursday 20 September to 6am Monday 24 September 2018.

Alternative car parking options

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail passengers during construction, car parks have been extended to provide approximately:

  • 172 spaces at East Malvern Station
  • 80 spaces at Huntingdale Station
  • 166 spaces at Sandown Park Station

Pedestrian access changes

Carnegie Station

Due to works to complete the Carnegie Station precinct, the current entrance to the station off Koornang Road is temporarily closed from Sunday 19 August to Sunday 30 September 2018, access to the station will be via a designated pedestrian detour through the station between Morton Avenue and Woorayl Street.

Murrumbeena Station 

Murrumbeena Road

While the rail infrastructure is removed on Murrumbeena Road, pedestrian access is limited until Monday 24 September 2018. Detours are in place around Railway Parade, Murrumbeena Road and Neerim Road.

Hughesdale Station

The shared use path between Galbally Reserve and Richardson Street pedestrian crossing will be closed from 7am Tuesday 18 September to 5pm Friday 28 September 2018 due to works to construct linear parkland. 

The pedestrian crossing is closed on the eastern side of removed Poath Road level crossing. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the western side of Poath Road. The long-term closure is due to construction activities.

The shared use path on the south side of Hughesdale Station, between Poath Road and Galbally Reserve, is closed. Please follow detour signs in place via Poath Road and Arthur Street. 

The pedestrian footpath on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is closed until late 2018.

Shared-use path (Oakleigh - Huntingdale stations)

The shared use path is temporarily closed for fencing and other works from the eastern end of Oakleigh Station Portman Street car park to Huntingdale Station until late October 2018. 

Clayton Station

The station’s permanent customer service office opened on Thursday 30 August 2018. It is located to the right of the myki barriers.

Access to the station changed from Sunday 2 September 2018. The new permanent entrance is located off Clayton Road, further south towards Haughton Road. 

Please be advised the previous bike storage area permanently closed from Saturday 1 September to complete station precinct works. Bicycle hoops have been relocated to an area near the new Customer Service Office.

The footpath on the south side of Carinish Road, between Clayton Road and Mary Street, is closed until late 2018. Please detour via the north side of Carinish Road.

Noble Park Station

Due to essential maintenance works there will be intermittent closures of the accessible toilets from 4am Monday 24 September until 11pm Tuesday 25 September 2018. Access will be maintained to one accessible toilet at all times.

From mid-August to mid-September 2018, access to the station will be via the designated pedestrian pathway between Mons Parade and Douglas Street (adjacent to Ian Street and Leonard Avenue). A permanent customer service office is located near the entrance on the Douglas Street side of the station.

Heatherton Road pedestrian level crossing (north side) is closed. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the southern side of Heatherton Road.

Officer Station

To enable substation works, there will be a temporary closure of the gravel car park (up to 20 spaces) and shared use path on Station Street, Officer, from Monday 2 July to late 2018.  For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

McGregor Road, Pakenham

To safely upgrade the pedestrian crossing at McGregor Road, Pakenham, the pedestrian crossing will close from Monday 8 October 2018 to mid-December 2018. Please detour via the temporary pedestrian crossing on the western side of McGregor Road.
