Routes 1, 3a, 5, 6, 8, 12, 16, 35 (City Circle), 64, 67, 72, 86, 96 and 109: Temporary service alterations from Saturday 25 March to Sunday, 26 March 2017

Due to the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park, Route 1, 3a, 5, 6, 8, 12, 16, 35 (City Circle), 64, 67, 72, 86, 96 and 109 trams will be affected by temporary service alterations between 5.30am and 9pm each day from Saturday 25 March until 8.30pm on Sunday, 26 March.

Trams will run to a higher frequency and may not arrived at scheduled times. Customers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

Service changes

Route 1

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 1 trams will operate in two sections:

  • Between East Coburg and Swanston Street/RMIT University (Stop 7)
  • Between a temporary stop on Southbank Boulevard and South Melbourne Beach

Customers can connect between Stop 7 and Southbank Boulevard by catching any tram route along Swanston Street/St Kilda Road.

Route 3a

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 3a trams will operate between East Malvern and Carlisle Street Havelock Street (Stop 32), near Luna Park in St Kilda.

Route 5

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 5 trams will operate between Malvern and Dandenong Road/Chapel Street (Stop 32).

Route 6

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 6 trams will operate between Glen Iris and a temporary stop in High Street near St Kilda Road.

Route 8

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 8 trams will operate in two sections:

  • Between Moreland and Swanston Street/RMIT University (Stop 7)
  • Between a temporary stop on Southbank Boulevard and Toorak

Route 12

From the first service until 9pm each day, Route 12 trams will operate between Victoria Gardens and Collins Street/Spencer Street (Stop 1).

Buses will replace trams between Clarendon Street/Casino/MCEC (Stop 124A) and and Gate 1 Canterbury Road, Middle Park.

The following tram stop will not be serviced:

  • Spencer Street/Batman Park (Stop 124)

Route 16

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 16 trams will operate between Kew and Carlisle Street Havelock Street (Stop 32), near Luna Park in St Kilda.

Route 35 (City Circle)

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, City Circle trams will not service the following tram stops:

  • La Trobe Street/Spencer Street (Stop 119)
  • La Trobe Street/Etihad Stadium (Stop D1)

Route 64

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 64 trams will operate between East Brighton and Dandenong Road/Chapel Street (Stop 32).

Route 67

From 7am until 8.30pm each day, Route 67 trams will operate between Carnegie and St Kilda Road/St Kilda Junction (Stop 30).

Route 72

From the first service until 8.30pm each day, Route 72 trams will operate between Camberwell and a temporary stop in Commercial Road near St Kilda Road.

Route 86

From 5.30am until 8.30pm each day, Route 86 trams will operate between Bundoora RMIT and Bourke Street/Spencer Street (Stop 1).

Route 96

From 5.30am until 9pm each day, Route 96 trams will operate between East Brunswick and Bourke Street/Spencer Street (Stop 1).

Buses will replace trams between Bourke Street/William Street (Stop 3) and Fitzroy Street/Canterbury Road (Stop 133) in St Kilda. No services will operate in Acland Street.

Route 109

From 6am until 8.30pm each day, Route 109 trams will not service the following tram stops:

  • Spencer Street/Batman Park (Stop 124)
  • Clarendon Street/Casino/MCEC (Stop 124A)
  • Normanby Road/Clarendon Street (Stop 125)

Please note: In accordance with the Victorian Fares and Ticketing Manual 2017, bicycles, surfboards and dogs are not permitted to travel on buses. An exception exists for guide dogs, hearing guide dogs or guide dogs in training and small animals if they are suitably contained.
