Getting to and from the Grand Prix

Take the tram, take pole position. Getting to the Grand Prix has never been easier! 

With more than 4,800 extra tram services to get you to the track and back, public transport is the way to go.  

Extra tram services will run along Spencer Street, Swanson Street and St Kilda Road, free with your Grand Prix ticket. 

Accessible public transport  

Travellers Aid will assist passengers with accessible needs at Gate 1 and Gate 10 throughout all four Grand Prix event days.   

  • Gate 1:
    • Wheelchair support between Tram Stop 130 Middle Park and Gate 1 main entrance. 
  • Gate 10:  
    • Wheelchair support between Tram Stop 30 St Kilda Junction and corner of St Kilda Road and Fitzroy Street (on demand). 
    • Buggy Transfer Service between corner of St Kilda Road and Fitzroy Street to Gate 10. 
    • Wheelchair support from Gate 10 to What Ability Foundation viewing platform. 

Getting to and from Albert Park

Thursday 13 March and Friday 14 March

Gates 1 and 2, 5:30am to 8pm (Thursday) and 5:30am to 10pm (Friday) 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run express between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Stop 129 MSAC and Stop 130 Middle Park. 
  • Route 96a replacement buses run between a temporary bus stop in Spencer Street near Collins Street via Grand Prix Gates 1 and 2  

Gates 3, 5:30am-8pm 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3,  

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams operate between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Luna Park (Friday) 
  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 32 Chapel Street.

Passengers can get to and from the track using the following options: 

Gates 1, 2 and 3 

  • Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with Grand Prix shuttle trams on Spencer Street. 

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10 

  • Train to Melbourne Central or Flinders Street Station, then connect with St Kilda Road trams

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a Grand Prix shuttle tram on Spencer Street from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street. 

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10 

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road shuttle tram

Getting to Albert Park

Saturday 15 March and Sunday 16 March

Passengers travelling to the track can use their Grand Prix ticket to travel free on shuttle trams. 

Gates 1 and 2 - 5.30am to 10pm 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Stop 129 MSAC and Stop 130 Middle Park. 

Gate 3 - 5.30am to 10pm 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 running express between Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 on Albert Rd.  
  • Normal Route 12 trams stopping all stops along Clarendon Street (except Stop 124a Batman Park, Stop 124 Crown Casino and Stop 125 Clarendon Street Junction) 
  • Express buses run from Crown Casino to Gates 1, 2 and 3 via Clarendon Street and Canterbury Road. 

Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10 - 5.30am to 10pm 

  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 13 Flinders Street Station/Federation Square and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction 
  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Lunar Park. 
  • Grand Prix shuttle trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station, La Trobe Street and Stop 32 Chapel Street.
