School travel advice
School buses will operate as normal across Victoria to make sure students can get to school in a safe and easy way.
When travelling on a school bus your child should:
- Practise good hygiene, including using hand sanitiser and coughing into their elbow
- Maintain physical distance from others when they can
- Stay home if they are unwell
We are working closely with the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training and schools to ensure school buses are clean and safe to use.
Below are some useful tips to help make the transition back to school a bit easier.
Register your myki
You can check the myki balance on your child's myki by registering it online. When you register a myki, you can also protect the balance if the card is lost or stolen, set up auto top and check the travel history. You can have up to 8 myki cards registered to one account.
Registering a myki will also help with contact tracing efforts if a public transport service is identified as a coronavirus exposure site.
Top up your myki
We’ve returned cash payments for those people who prefer cash or it's their only payment option. You’re able to use cash to top up a myki at public transport offices, PTV hubs or to buy a ticket on buses that don’t use myki.
The myki bus network will remain cashless, so please top up your myki ahead of time. We have plenty of cashless ways to top up your myki. You can top up:
- Online now
- Via the PTV app
- Instant top up via the PTV app
- Using a quick top up machine or myki Machine
- Register your myki and set auto top up
- Find your nearest place to top up
