Getting to and from the AFL Grand Final
Footy fever reaches its peak on that one day we’ve all been waiting for – the AFL Grand Final on Saturday 28 September.
With extra train and tram services to get you to the ‘G’ and back, public transport is the way to enjoy all the thrills of the game as the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans battle for the flag.
The event kicks off at 2:30pm.
An AFL Grand Final Live Site will be located at Yarra Park as part of the Footy Festival, open from 10am to 10pm on Saturday 28 September.

From first service Wednesday 25 September to last service Saturday 28 September (inclusive), the Free Tram Zone will be extended from the city to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The additional stops included in the Extended FreeTram Zone are:

Route 70
- Extra trams will between from Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street (Stop 4) and Stop 7C MCG/John Cain Arena from 9am to 8:10pm.
Route 75
- Extra trams will operate between Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street (Stop 4) and Stop 12 Simpson Street/ Wellington Parade from 9am to 8:10pm.
Route 48
- Extra trams will operate between Southern Cross Station/ Spenser Street (Stop 1) and Stop 12 Simpson Street/ Wellington Parade from 12:30pm to 8:10pm.
Service Changes first to last tram
Route 12
- Trams will not travel via Victoria St and Collins St and instead operate as 12a between St Kilda, Fitzroy St and Southern Cross Station – City.
Route 30 & 35
- Trams will not operate.

Extra trains will run to get you to and from the game, passengers can connect with metropolitan train and tram services at Southern Cross Station.
