Public transport for the BBL match Melbourne Stars v Hobart Hurricanes: Monday 14 January 2019

It's time for another game of BBL cricket! Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, as the local Melbourne Stars face off against the Hobart Hurricanes. Extra services will help you get home from the MCG Stadium on Monday 14 January 2019.

The match will begin at 7.15pm, and conclude at approximately 10.15pm.

Gate guide for the MCG

Please refer to the gate guide below to see which mode of transport will get you to your gate quickly and easily.

Gates 1 - 4

  • Jolimont Station (train)
  • Stop 11 on Wellington Parade (Tram route 48)

Gates 1, 2 and 7

  • Flinders Street Station (train) and walk through Birrarung Marr

Gates 1, 2, 6 and 7

  • Richmond Station - Swan Street exit (train), 7 minute walk
  • Stops 7C and 7D (Route 70/70a trams)

Gates 3 - 5

  • Richmond Station - Brunton Avenue exit (train), 5 minute walk
  • Stop Rowena Parade/Punt Road (Bus route 246)

Departing Jolimont

  • Mernda, departing 10.35pm Platform 2
  • Eltham, departing 10.39pm Platform 2

Departing Richmond

  • Frankston, departing 10.31pm and 10.40pm Platform 4
  • Glen Waverley, departing 10.33pm and 10.45pm platforms 9/10
  • Lilydale, departing 10.34pm platforms 9/10
  • Pakenham, departing 10.35pm Platform 6
  • Upper Ferntree Gully, departing 10.37pm platforms 9/10
  • Dandenong, departing 10.40pm Platform 6
  • Sandringham, departing 10.29pm and 10.49pm Platform 2

Departing Flinders Street

  • Craigieburn, departing 10.56pm Platform 8

Getting to and from the MCG

Passengers can catch tram routes 48, 70, 70a, and 75 to get to the MCG.

On Boxing Day, trams will operate to a Saturday timetable, with the last service approximately one hour earlier on most routes. Night tram services will not operate.

Extra trams will operate as Route 70a between Flinders Street Station and Stop 7C MCG/Hisense Arena, and Stop 7D AAMI Park until Day 4 of the test match.

Getting to and from the MCG

On Boxing Day, metropolitan bus services will operate to a normal Saturday timetable, but some routes may have alterations. Night bus services will not operate.

Customers can catch the following buses close to the MCG:

  • Route 246 (please note services may terminate prior to the end of the match)

Geelong/Waurn Ponds line

Before the game

  • Trains will run to the normal weekday timetable

After the game

  • Trains will run to the normal weekday timetable
  • The 11.30pm Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds will have additional seating

Ballarat/Wendouree line

Before the game

  • Trains will run to the normal weekday timetable

After the game

  • An additional train service will depart Southern Cross at 11.05pm and arriving at Ballarat at 12.18am and Wendouree at 12.30am

Seymour Line

Before the game

  • Trains will run to the normal weekday timetable

After the game

  • An additional road coach departs Southern Cross at 11.05pm, setting down as required at stations from Donnybrook to Seymour.
