Public transport for the Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder Big Bash match: Saturday, 20 January 2018

Public transport is the best way to enjoy your summer of Big Bash cricket. Extra services will help you support your team as the Melbourne Stars take on the Sydney Thunder at the MCG on Saturday, 20 January 2018.

Hurstbridge line customers please note: Due to works as part of the Hurstbridge Rail Line Upgrade, buses will replace train services between Clifton Hill and Greensborough and stations from 8pm Friday 19 January until the last service on Sunday, 21 January 2018. Click here for more information.

Before the game there are extra services to Jolimont from:

  • South Morang, departing 4.47pm

Before the game there are extra services to Richmond from:

  • Sunbury, departing 4.31pm
  • Sandringham, departing 4.59pm
  • Syndal, departing 4.57

Trains depart Jolimont after the game ends, as follows:

  • Epping, departing 9.29pm and 9.34pm, platform 2

Trains depart Richmond after the game ends, as follows:

  • Sunbury, departing 9.28pm, platform 1
  • Sandringham, departing 9.27pm, platform 2
  • Upper Ferntree Gully, departing 9.29pm, platform 9/10
  • Glen Waverley, departing 9.28pm, platform 9/10
  • Frankston, departing 9.27pm, platform 4
  • Pakenham, departing 9.30pm, platform 6

Getting to and from the MCG

Extra trams will operate as Route 75a between Flinders Street Station and Stop 11 Wellington Parade/Clarendon Street. Passengers using Southern Cross Station can connect with Route 48 trams along Collins St.

Getting to and from the MCG

Customers travelling by regional train can alight at Southern Cross Station, change to a metropolitan train service and alight at Richmond or Jolimont stations.

Geelong line

After the game:

  • Additional seating will be available on the 9.55pm train service from Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds.

Ballarat/Wendouree line

After the game:

  • Additional seating will be available on the 10.16pm train service from Southern Cross to Wendouree.

Seymour/Shepparton line

After the game:

  • The 9.55pm train service from Southern Cross to Seymour is altered to depart at 10.02pm. The new schedule is: departs Southern Cross at 10.02pm, Broadmeadows 10.19pm (pick up only), Craigieburn 10.26pm (pick up only), Donnybrook 10.31pm, Wallan 10.40pm, Heathcote Junction 10.45pm, Wandong 10.47pm, Kilmore East 10.53pm, Broadford 11pm, Tallarook 11.09pm and arrive at Seymour at 11.20pm.

Customers travelling by regional coach can alight at Southern Cross Coach terminal, change to a metropolitan train service and alight at Richmond or Jolimont stations.
