myki auto top up transforming public transport travel
13 Dec 2013
myki auto top up is transforming the way thousands of Victorians are paying their fare on Victoria’s trains, trams and buses.
More than 143,000 customers are registered for auto top up, and more than 1.1 million myki cards are regularly used each week.
Public Transport Victoria Director of Customer Services, Alan Fedda, said the number of people registering for auto top up is extremely encouraging.
“This year alone more than 100,000 customers have signed on to myki auto top,” Mr Fedda said.
“For the week ending 28 November, more than 6,700 customers, a 63 per cent increase on the previous week, signed up for auto top up.
“This is the highest number of customers to ever register for the service in any given week since myki began operating.
“This year we have improved the auto top up service for customers and the number of people getting onboard demonstrates they enjoy the convenience of not having to carry change or wait in line to add value to their myki.”
Auto top up is the most convenient way to travel for myki money customers, particularly those who travel by tram.
Mr Fedda said myki auto top up is ideal for anyone who uses public transport.
“It doesn’t matter whether you travel every day, once a month or once a year, with myki auto top up you’ll always be ready to travel on a train, tram or bus,” he said.
“All you need to do is choose a minimum balance and how much your myki tops up by when it reaches that value.
“As you touch on and touch off when you travel your myki automatically tops up and you will never be caught without a valid ticket.”
