New Chief Executive Officer for Public Transport Victoria

13 Dec 2013

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) Chief Executive and Chair Ian Dobbs today announced the appointment of Mark Wild as his successor in the role of PTV CEO.

Mr Dobbs said after an extensive international search, the PTV Board, with the approval of the Minister for Public Transport, has appointed Mark Wild.

“Mark is currently PTV’s Director of Projects and Technical Services and has gained extensive experience in the transportation and infrastructure sectors,” he said.

“With more than 14 years experience at an executive level, Mark has worked in both the private and public sectors, and brings to PTV a passion for public transport that will be a great asset to the organisation and to Victoria’s public transport system.

“Mark will be able to build on the considerable success PTV has achieved in the past two years and I look forward to working with him as I transition out of the position of CEO to focus solely on my role as Chairman of the Board.

“I will continue to have an active role within PTV, providing support for Mark as he concentrates initially on the day-to-day workload of managing our public transport system but also acting as an advocate for public transport and managing many of our external relationships. ”

Mr Wild said he was humbled to be appointed to the role of CEO.

“I have been with PTV for 15 months and in that time the organisation has delivered significant improvements for public transport users across Victoria,” he said.

“We’ve extended train lines, opened new stations, improved bus networks, added hundreds of new train services and the first new E-Class trams are now travelling on Route 96 through Melbourne.

“I look forward to working with the Government, our public transport operators and the dedicated staff at PTV to continue to deliver on our vision for the public transport network” Mr Wild said.

Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder welcomed the news of Mr Wild’s appointment.

“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to approve Mark’s appointment, following a recommendation from the PTV Board,” Mr Mulder said.

“Mark is an ideal choice as CEO and his appointment against such a strong field of international candidates is of great credit to him and PTV as a whole.”

Mr Wild will take the role of PTV CEO from 1 February 2014.
