December performance results published
08 Feb 2015
Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for December 2015, showing Metro has achieved performance targets for 45 consecutive months, with more than 93 per cent of services on-time.
- Metro delivered 93.9 per cent of services on-time in December
- V/Line delivered 85.6 per cent of services on-time in December
- Yarra Trams delivered 81.6 per cent of services on-time in December
Public Transport Victoria Director of Performance and Contract Management, Jeroen Weimar said customers can look forward to an even more reliable service in the future.
“We are embarking on a programme of transformational upgrades to our public transport network. These projects will help to deliver a more frequent and reliable service for our customers,” Mr Weimar said.
Metro delivered its 45th consecutive month of more than 90 per cent of services on-time, with a one per cent increase compared to November.
“Metro has delivered another good month for our customers with a noticeable increase in on-time services,” Mr Weimar said.
Mr Weimar said V/Line’s overall on-time performance for December was down slightly on the previous month, largely due to speed restrictions caused by hot weather throughout Victoria.
“When the temperature reaches 36 degrees, V/Line trains have to slow down because the steel tracks expand. During these periods we do our best to ensure the safety of customers and staff, while running as many on-time services as possible,” Mr Weimar said.
Yarra Trams’ performance dipped slightly in December with important track maintenance and repair works carried out.
“Works to improve tram infrastructure are critical to the long term future of our tram network. The improvements carried out in December will make our network safer and more accessible for all people,” Mr Weimar said.
The December performance results are now available at Track Record.
