05 Aug 2016

Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for July 2016, with V/Line and Metro recording improvements in punctuality.

  • V/Line delivered 89.8 per cent of services on-time in July.
  • Yarra Trams delivered 85.2 per cent of services on-time in July.
  • Metro delivered 92.7 per cent of services on-time in July.

V/Line services experienced an increase in punctuality in July, with 89.8 per cent of the 7635 scheduled regional train services running on-time.

Public Transport Victoria Acting Executive Director, Performance and Contract Management, Warwick Horsley said V/Line passengers were beginning to benefit from the introduction of a new timetable which began on 27 June.

“July is the first full month of operation of the new V/Line timetable which also included additional services introduced as part of the first stage of the Bendigo Metro Rail Project,” Mr Horsley said.

“So far an additional 10,000 trips have been taken as a result of extra services introduced on the Bendigo Line as part of the Bendigo Metro Rail Project.”

“The Geelong line has experienced its best punctuality result in five years, with 91.0 per cent of services running on-time, the highest number since July 2011.”

Yarra Trams delivered a reliable month for passengers with the lowest number of cancellations since November 2015 and 99.1 per cent of services delivered in July.

Metro’s punctuality has continued to exceed punctuality thresholds having now achieved this for 52 consecutive months, with 92.7 per cent of services running on-time.

“We’d like to thank passengers for their patience during the Winter construction blitz which saw the removal of three level crossings, with the brand new McKinnon Station already open to passengers,” Mr Horsley said.

“These projects are helping us transform the network and will provide a more reliable, modern and accessible transport network for Victorians in the future.”

The July performance results are now available at, Track Record.
