October performance results published
10 Nov 2016
Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for October 2016, with performance remaining steady across all three modes.
- V/Line delivered 90.3 per cent of services on-time in October.
- Yarra Trams delivered 83.4 per cent of services on-time in October.
- Metro delivered 91.1 per cent of services on-time in October.
Public Transport Victoria Acting Executive Director, Performance and Contract Management, Warwick Horsley said performance had remained steady in spite of difficult weather conditions.
“October had 30 per cent more rain than average, with V/Line and Yarra Trams delivering improved performance from the same time last year,” Mr Horsley said.
V/Line continued to deliver punctuality and reliability results above the 12 month average with the Geelong and Ballarat lines meeting their punctuality targets.
“This is excellent news for commuters on the Geelong and Ballarat lines, two of the busiest on the regional network,” Mr Horsley said.
“Construction of the Rowsley crossing loop on the Ballarat line has allowed drivers more opportunity to overtake trains and reduce delays for passengers.”
“With the $518 million Ballarat Line Upgrade set to duplicate the line from Deer Park to Melton and install additional crossing loops, passengers on the line can look forward to continued improvement.”
Metro continued to meet its performance thresholds while significant construction works were carried out across Melbourne.
“Despite extensive construction works across the network including the removal of two level crossings in St Albans, Metro has continued to meet its performance thresholds which remained steady with only a slight decrease in punctuality,” Mr Horsley said.
“These sorts of results demonstrate efforts to keep passengers moving while we undertake major works to transform our public transport network in Melbourne and regional Victoria.”
The October performance results are now available at Track Record.
