December 2016 performance results published
11 Jan 2017
Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for December 2016, with performance remaining steady across all three modes.
- V/Line delivered 84.7 per cent of services on-time in December.
- Yarra Trams delivered 82.0 per cent of services on-time in December.
- Metro delivered 91.9 per cent of services on-time in December.
Public Transport Victoria Executive Director, Network Service Delivery, Warwick Horsley said that Metro and Yarra Trams had both continued to exceed performance thresholds.
“Metro and Yarra have continued to exceed their performance thresholds to provide punctual and reliable services, which is a great result for our customers,” Mr Horsley said.
“This has been despite a difficult month with extreme and unpredictable weather, including flooding on parts of the network, meaning they’ve been able to keep customers moving despite a challenging environment.”
Metro delivered an improvement in punctuality in December with 91.9 per cent of services running on time compared to 91.1 per cent in November.
“Continued reliability and punctuality on the metropolitan train network is important as we work to transform it with the removal of a number of dangerous and congested level crossings,” Mr Horsley said.
“The patience and understanding of our customers allows us to undertake major works to transform the network and make improvements that will provide long-term benefits to the community.”
The Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong lines, among the busiest on the V/Line network, all recorded improvements in punctuality.
“We know that more than half of our regional passengers travel on the Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong lines so it’s pleasing to see a boost to punctuality for passengers,” Mr Horsley said.
“As V/Line continue to deliver significant maintenance and renewal works we hope to see these results extended to all passengers on all lines across regional Victoria.”
“These works will contribute to a safer, more reliable network and allow V/Line to deliver more punctual services to passengers in regional Victoria.”
The December performance results are now available on the PTV website at Track Record.
