January performance results published
10 Feb 2017
Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for January 2017, with performance remaining steady across all three modes.
- Metro delivered 93.0 per cent of services on-time in January.
- Yarra Trams delivered 87.6 per cent of services on-time in January.
- V/Line delivered 80.4 per cent of services on-time in January.
Public Transport Victoria Acting Executive Director, Network Service Delivery, Dean Purkis said that Yarra Trams delivered the best punctuality result since January 2001, 87.67 per cent, while providing thousands of extra services to the Australian Open.
“It’s been great to see Yarra Trams continue to provide punctual services to passengers, despite challenging weather conditions in the peak of Summer,” Mr Purkis said.
“Yarra Trams has done a great job to keep so many services on time while delivering extra tram to the Australian Open.”
Metro once again exceeded the performance threshold for punctuality, with 93.0 per cent of services running on time in January 2017 compared to 91.9 percent in December 2016.
“I’d like to thank our passengers for their patience during the construction blitz on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines, which removed two more dangerous level crossings and built a new Heatherdale Station,” Mr Purkis said.
“Metro have continued to provide punctual services despite significant improvement works and maintenance being carried out on the network.”
Passengers on the Albury line and Bairnsdale line saw improvements to punctuality during January.
“January is often a difficult month with high-temperatures affecting the reliability and punctuality of services,” Mr Purkis said.
“On top of the heat, the Warrnambool line has been affected by temporary speed restrictions at level crossings to keep people safe.”
“I know the delays these restrictions are causing are frustrating for passengers and we are investigating a range of options to improve services in south western Victoria.”
The January performance results are now available on the PTV website at Track Record.
