June performance results published

Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for June 2018.

  • Metro delivered 92.6 per cent of services on-time in June.
  • Yarra Trams delivered 84.1 per cent of services on-time in June.
  • V/Line delivered 83.1 per cent of services on-time in June.

PTV CEO Jeroen Weimar said June saw punctuality and reliability improvements on metropolitan and regional services against an ongoing backdrop of major infrastructure works across the network.

“PTV has been working closely with the relevant agencies to ensure we minimise the impact to our passengers during this period of unprecedented investment in Victoria’s transport network,” said Mr Weimar.

“In June we saw a significant milestone passed, with the final four level crossings removed between Caulfield and Dandenong, and trains running for the first time on the new stretch of elevated rail between Caulfield and Hughesdale,” said Mr Weimar.

Metro Trains’ saw punctuality improvements on 15 of their 16 lines in June and at 92.6 per cent, exceeded their 92 per cent target. At 99.1 per cent, reliability was also above their 98.5 per cent target.

On the tram network, Yarra Trams exceeded their 82 per cent punctuality target, delivering their highest result this year at 84.1 per cent. Reliability was also above their 98.5 per cent threshold for a sixth successive month.

On-time performance on the regional rail network also improved, rising from 79.3 per cent in May to 83.1 per cent last month. Punctuality improvements were seen on almost all lines, with V/Line delivering a 95.9 per cent reliability result in June, just short of the 96 per cent target.

In a move to better integrate V/Line and the broader transport network, PTV CEO Jeroen Weimar has recently been appointed Chair of the V/Line Board.

"Over the past couple of weeks, I've travelled on many of the key routes across the regional network to speak to staff and hear from passengers about how they rely on V/Line's services to get them where they need to go.

'I'm excited about the opportunities we have to improve the services that so many Victorians depend on.”
