July 2018 performance results published

Public Transport Victoria today published performance results for July 2018.

  • Metro delivered 92.5 per cent of services on-time in July.
  • Yarra Trams delivered 85.6 per cent of services on-time in July.
  • V/Line delivered 85.9 per cent of services on-time in July.

PTV CEO Jeroen Weimar said punctuality and reliability improved across metropolitan and regional services in July delivering some of the strongest performance results this year.

“More and more people are relying on our public transport network to get them where they need to go, we are focused on ensuring we are delivering the service they expect and deserve,” said Mr Weimar.

In July, Metro Trains’ punctuality result of 92.5 per cent exceeded its on-time performance target and was up on their 89.8 per cent result achieved during the same month last year. At 98.6 per cent, reliability was also above their 98.5 per cent target.

Yarra Trams also exceeded their punctuality target, with 85.6 per cent of trams arriving on-time in July, delivering their strongest result in six months. At 98.7 per cent, they also exceeded their 98.5 per cent reliability target for a seventh successive month.

“Alongside rolling out 80 new E-Class trams onto our network, we have also begun work to refurbish 450 trams in our existing fleet which will deliver better reliability and an improved passenger experience long term.”

At 96.7 per cent, reliability on V/Line services was up on the previous two months, with nine of 11 regional lines exceeding the 96 per cent target. On-time performance improved for a third consecutive month, rising from 79.3 per cent in May to 85.9 per cent in July.

Punctuality improved on the regional network’s three busiest lines of Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo, with Geelong recording its second highest result in the past 12 months.

“Together the Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo lines make up more than two thirds of all V/Line services so punctuality improvements on these lines give a good reflection of how we are tracking overall.”
