PTV trialling customer traffic flow after major events
19 Dec 2014
On Saturday 20 December 2014, Public Transport Victoria will be trialling a way to help customers get home faster from the MCG and, Melbourne and Olympic Park sports and entertainment precinct after major events.
Temporary fences will be in place along Brunton Avenue to create two separate lanes leading into Richmond Station. The aim is to try and improve the flow of passengers into the subway by asking customers to do the following:
- Customers for the Alamein, Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale lines (Platforms 7 -10) will be directed to line up on the left of the fencing/barriers along Brunton Avenue
- Customers for the Cranbourne, Frankston, Pakenham, Sandringham and Traralgon/Bairnsdale lines (Platforms 1 - 6) will be directed to line up on the right of fencing/barriers along Brunton Avenue
- All city bound customers can chose to access Richmond Station on the left or right of the barriers to catch a train to Flinders Street and change for a connecting service.
There will also be temporary fencing in place at the Olympic Boulevard entrance with similar instructions.
Signs will be used to direct customers to where they need to go. Customer service staff will also be available at the MCG, Brunton Avenue and Olympic Boulevard entrances to assist with enquiries.
Customers are advised to top up prior to travelling or to set auto top up so that you never need to top up again. For more information, see auto top up your myki.
