These works have been scheduled at a time when patronage is typically lower on the network.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their journey ahead of time and allow additional travel time this long weekend.
Public transport represents good value throughout the four day break with fares capped at just $6 a day for all-day travel in Melbourne.
Trains, trams and buses will operate to a combination of Saturday, Sunday and public holiday timetables over the Easter period.
Construction crews will be working around the clock in Ormond, McKinnon and Bentleigh to remove three level crossings – at North, McKinnon and Centre Roads. During these works, buses will replace trains on sections of the Frankston line from Friday 25 March until Monday 5 April.

More than 800 metres of tram tracks will be renewed in and around the St Kilda Road and Commercial Road junction, as part of an ongoing program to modernise Melbourne’s tram network. Route 3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 trams will be affected by service alterations during the works, including bus replacement services.

The Geelong/Warrnambool line will undergo improvement works, including an important upgrade at Geelong Station which involves removing 220 metres of track along both station platforms and replacing with new concrete sleepers, rail, ballast and drainage.
Services on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines will be replaced by road coaches, however trains will continue to operate between Southern Cross and Wyndham Vale stations.
