Rail Safety Week 2016

11 Aug 2016

Rail Safety Week is an annual community awareness week designed to engage the community in safe rail practices.

This year's theme is: “Rail safety – it’s everyone's responsibility”

Rail operators, Victoria Police and transport-focused agencies will join forces from Monday 15 August to Sunday 21 August to encourage pedestrians, drivers and train and tram passengers to be alert and stay safe.

Community events and BBQ’s at stations, school competitions, giveaways and industry forums are just some of the diverse activities to take place during this year’s Rail Safety Week.

Across Victoria, the State Government is continually improving safety on the rail network through a variety of programs and initiatives including the removal of level crossings in Melbourne, the upgrade of regional crossings and pedestrian safety improvements.
