Industrial action affecting metropolitan trams on Thursday 28 November and Thursday 5 December 2019

21 Nov 2019

Due to protected industrial action, metropolitan tram services will not operate between 10am and 2pm on Thursday 28 November.

Trams will also not operate between 10am and 2pm on Thursday 5 December.

Services are also expected to be significantly disrupted from 10am until approximately 3.30pm as the normal timetable is restored. If you are travelling on a tram at 10am, drivers will request passengers to get off at the nearest stop. This will enable trams to continue to the nearest depot.

During this time, passengers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative modes of transport. Passengers are also encouraged to defer all non-essential travel and consider alternative modes of transport during this period. Metropolitan trains, buses and V/Line trains will run as normal, however these services may be busier than usual.

Use our Journey planner to find train, bus and V/line options for your journey. To do this choose your departure point and destination, then click Journey preferences. Uncheck the tram option and click Apply. You will then be shown travel options that do not include trams.

Tram replacement bus stops

A replacement bus service will run; however, this will be very limited and will not service all the tram network. Significant delays are expected for passengers using this service.

Download the replacement bus map to find out where the buses will run.

You can also download the Planned industrial action flyer for a summary of the replacement bus map with service frequency and how to get to key destinations.

Tram replacement buses are low-floor depending on availability, and will service all existing kerbside and safety zone tram stops along the bus route. At tram platform stops, buses will stop at the footpath nearby, or where possible. Please hail the bus when it is approaching. While on board, ensure you press the button for your stop with enough time to notify the driver.

Listed below are the last uninterrupted tram services before the planned industrial action on Thursday 5 December. Please note that these times are indicative only and may vary depending on other disruptions to the network.
