Industrial action affecting metropolitan trams on Monday 17 February and Thursday 20 February 2020

10 Feb 2020

Due to protected industrial action, no trams will run between 10am and 2pm on Monday 17 February and Thursday 20 February. Services are expected to be significantly disrupted from 10am until approximately 3.30pm on both days.

Delays are expected, so plan ahead, consider alternative travel options and check our website for regular updates.

If you're travelling on a tram at 10am, drivers will ask all passengers to get off at the next stop. This will allow trams to continue to the depot.

We encourage you to defer all non-essential travel and consider alternative modes of transport during this period. Metropolitan trains, buses and V/Line trains will run as normal, but these services may be busier than usual.

We’re working closely with Yarra Trams to reduce the impact of industrial action as much as we can.

Plan ahead and check our website, Facebook and Twitter for updates before travelling.

Alternative travel options

Use our Journey planner to find train, bus and V/Line options for your journey. To do this, choose your departure point and destination, then click Journey preferences. Uncheck the tram option and click Apply. You'll then be shown travel options that do not include trams.

Replacement buses

A replacement bus service will run, but it will be very limited and won't service the whole tram network. Significant delays are expected for passengers using this service.

Tram-replacement buses are low-floor depending on availability. They will stop at all existing kerbside and safety zone tram stops along the bus route. At tram platform stops, buses will stop at the footpath nearby where possible. Please hail the bus when it is approaching. While on board, ensure you press the button for your stop with enough time to notify the driver.
