Changes to buses
10 Jul 2020
Bus journeys are being made quicker and easier for passengers and drivers with the introduction of all door boarding.
This means that passengers can enter and touch on at any door, just like on trams, reducing congestion and reducing wait times at bus stops.
All door boarding will be implemented across myki enabled bus routes by the end of 2021.
As of 1 July 2021, more than half of all bus passengers now board at stops approved for all door boarding, including:
- Buses operated by Transdev (around 30% of Melbourne’s network)
- Key services such as Route 401 (North Melbourne Station to Melbourne University) Route 601 (Huntingdale Station to Monash University)
- Bus stops at major railway stations
Major bus interchanges, including:
- Doncaster Park and Ride
- Eastland (Ringwood Station)
- Fountain Gate
- Werribee Plaza
Passengers with a wheelchair, scooter or other mobility aid, passengers with prams and passengers with limited mobility can continue to board via the front door.
Cash transactions are not available on buses and trams.
Please ensure your myki is topped up and ready to go prior to travel. You can now top up your myki in the new PTV app.
