Yarra Trams services disrupted on Friday 1 October
30 Sep 2021
Services on tram routes 57, 58, 59, and 82 are expected to be significantly disrupted tomorrow with further impacts expected over the coming days after a driver has tested positive to coronavirus.
The positive case has meant that a significant number of drivers based at Yarra Trams’ Essendon Depot and City (Tram Hub) Depot have been required to isolate to keep everyone safe.
The majority of these employees are secondary contacts and will be permitted to return to work after returning a negative test.
Yarra Trams will endeavour to provide as regular a service as possible across the four most impacted routes, but high number of service cancellations are expected.
The impacted routes are:
- Route 57 – West Maribyrnong to Flinders Street Station
- Route 58 – West Coburg to Toorak
- Route 59 – Airport West to Flinders Street Station
- Route 82 – Moonee Ponds to Footscray
Yarra Trams and the Department of Transport will work closely with the Department of Health as contact tracing continues. We are working to support staff, and exercising an abundance of caution in the interest of tram drivers, other employees and passengers.
Passengers are urged to check our website and the Yarra Trams website and social media before travelling for the latest travel information. The Yarra Trams TramTracker app will also provide up-to-date information for trams as they travel across the network.
We will continue to provide regular updates as they become available.
We apologise to passengers making permitted journeys for the disruption to their journey and thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding during this challenging time.
