AFL Grand Final Eve Public Holiday: Friday 27 September 2024

There will be changes to public transport services on Friday 27 September during the AFL Grand Final long weekend. Plan ahead by using Journey planner or by downloading the free PTV app.
Ticketing
On public holidays, your daily myki fare is capped at $7.20 ($3.60 for concessions and seniors), allowing unlimited travel all day.
Note: While some concession holders enjoy free travel on weekends, this benefit does not apply to public holiday timetables. On public holidays, normal myki fare caps are in effect for all passengers, including seniors.

Metropolitan train
Metropolitan train services will run to a Saturday timetable with additional services.
Metropolitan tram
Tram services will run to a Saturday timetable, noting times may differ slightly from the normal Saturday timetable.
Night network services will run as normal.
Friday 27 September, 8.30am to 1.30pm:
- Extra Route 70a trams will run between Stop D6 Flinders Street West and Stop 7C MCG Gates 4-7.
- Extra Route 75a trams will run between Stop D6 Flinders Street West and Stop 11 Jolimont Station.
From Wednesday 25 September to the AFL Grand Final, Saturday 28 September (inclusive). The Free Tram Zone will be extended to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Customers travelling solely within the free tram zone should not touch on or off. The additional stops included in the Extended Free Tram Zone are as follows:

Regional train and coach
V/Line trains will run to a Saturday timetable for the Grand Final Eve public holiday on Friday 27 September.
The Overland (Melbourne – Adelaide via Ararat and Horsham)
The Overland train from Melbourne to Adelaide will run to a Friday timetable.
Schedule Coach Services
Scheduled coach services will run to a Saturday timetable with the following alterations:
Canberra - Bairnsdale
- The 9.45am Canberra to Bairnsdale coach will run to the school holidays Sunday timetable. The Bairnsdale to Canberra coach will not
Bendigo - Wangaratta
- The 4.59pm from Bendigo to Wangaratta coach will run as per the Friday timetable.
The 7.46am from Wangaratta to Bendigo coach will run as per the Friday timetable.
Melbourne – Mildura - Melbourne
- The overnight coach between Melbourne and Mildura will run as per Friday timetable.
Metropolitan and regional bus
Metropolitan Bus Services
Metropolitan buses will run to a Saturday timetable, with the following exceptions.
- The following bus routes will not run: 407, 414, 415, 490, 503, 506, 526, 536, 538, 549, 550, 558, 559, 671, 672, 677, 681, 682.
- FlexiRide services in Croydon, Lilydale, and Mooroolbark will not run.

Regional Bus Services
Regional bus services may follow an altered timetable depending on the operator. The following routes will run on Friday 27 September, with some altered timetables:

- Albury - Myrtleford via Wodonga (weekday timetable)
- Bright – Omeo via Hotham Heights (weekday timetable)
- Genoa – Mallacoota via Gipsy Point (Saturday timetable)
- Grantville – Coronet Bay via Grantville (Sunday timetable)
- Heathcote – Bendigo (Saturday timetable)
- Yarram – Traralgon via Gormandale (Sunday timetable)
- Traralgon – Wonthaggi via Inverloch, Leongatha, Mirboo Nth (Saturday timetable)
Local and Town Services:
- La Trobe Valley services
- Warragul Town Service and Garfield to Traralgon (Saturday timetable)
- Latrobe Valley Transit Service (Saturday timetable) – no routes 6 & 7
- Wallan Town Service (Saturday timetable)
- Mildura Transit Service (Sunday timetable)
- Portland Town Service (Saturday timetable)
- Warrnambool Town Service (Saturday Timetable)
Geelong and Surrounding Areas:
- Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula services (Saturday timetable)
- (CDC) Geelong Transit Service (Saturday timetable)
Ballarat and Surrounding Areas:
- (CDC) Ballarat Transit Service (Saturday timetable)
Mildura - Merebein and Red Cliffs:
- Merbein – Mildura City via Seventeenth St
- Merbein – Mildura City via Eleventh St
- Red Cliffs – Mildura City via Red Cliffs
Other Routes:
- Kyneton Town Centre – Trentham via Kyneton Town Centre
- Paynesville – Bairnsdale via Paynesville (Saturday timetable)
- Strathfieldsaye – Bendigo (Route 70) (Saturday timetable)
- (Christians) Bacchus Marsh Town School Service (Saturday timetable) - Routes 433 & 434
All other services may not run. To plan ahead, check timetables online or call 1800 800 007 before you travel.
Night Network
Night network services will operate as normal on Friday 27 September.
