New Bendigo bus commuter hub

A new bus commuter hub in Bendigo is also being constructed which will support the introduction of the new bus network. The project is a partnership between the City of Greater Bendigo, which is managing it, and the State Government, which is funding the works through Public Transport Victoria.

Construction of the commuter hub will be undertaken from January – March 2016.

Key features will include:

  • Around 80 square metres of undercover space
  • Seating capacity for 45 people and standing room for a further 60 people
  • Two steel-framed structures that will feature two large glass oval-shaped roofs that will include screens to display the real-time bus timetabling information.

The bus commuter hub is not only designed for bus users, and will also provide undercover seating for anyone who wants to take a seat and enjoy that environment of Hargreaves Mall.

The project involves the removal of an ‘obelisk’ at the Mitchell Street end of the Mall. The Obelisk structure and its materials will be reused elsewhere.
