Bus safety is everyone’s business
Added: 21 June 2016
The inaugural Bus Safety Week was launched yesterday by Transport Safety Victoria (TSV) and the Bus Association Victoria (BusVic) with the theme 'Bus safety – it’s a shared responsibility’.
The theme recognises that while major bus incidents are beginning to fall, that continuing this trend into the future is important for everybody.
Collisions between buses and bicycles, motorbikes and people have declined for the first quarter of 2016.
With over 111 million kilometres travelled by bus each year in Victoria, Bus Safety Week recognises the need for us to all play our part to be safe around buses.
Transport Safety Victoria promotes bus safety through industry regulation, education programs and compliance activities in partnership with other agencies including Victoria Police and Vicroads.
To mark Bus Safety Week, BusVic have created a number of instructional videos to demonstrate how everyone can play a role in making bus travel safer.
