First section of Regional Rail Link tracks to open on Sunday 22 December
02 Dec 2013
The Regional Rail Link project will reach a major milestone on Sunday 22 December with the opening of two new platforms at Southern Cross Station and the project’s first section of dedicated V/Line tracks.
The new tracks will run from South Kensington Station to the new platforms 15 and 16 at Southern Cross Station.
Geelong line changes from Sunday 22 December
Geelong line passengers will be the first to benefit from the opening of the new platforms and tracks, with any Geelong line trains scheduled to arrive at platform 15 or 16 having a clear run into Southern Cross Station without a wait behind metropolitan trains.
When Regional Rail Link is complete, Geelong line trains will have dedicated tracks all the way from Geelong to all platforms at Southern Cross.
The opening of the new tracks will mean a new timetable for Geelong line services from Sunday 22 December.
