Free travel for seniors during the 2016 Victorian Seniors Festival

Free travel for Seniors Week 2 to 9 October 2016

Free public transport services between Sunday 2 October and Sunday 9 October are making it easy for Victorian Seniors Card holders to travel to festival events or get out and explore Victoria.

Services include:

  • Free metropolitan trains, trams and buses, and regional town bus services for eight days between Sunday 2 October and Sunday 9 October.
  • Free travel on V/Line economy class rail and coach services on Monday 3 October, Tuesday 4 October, Wednesday 5 October, Thursday 6 October, Saturday 8 October and Sunday 9 October.

Long distance V/Line services to and from Albury, Bairnsdale, Swan Hill, Shepparton and Warrnambool require a booking.

Seniors need to carry their Victorian Seniors Card while travelling.

The 34th Victorian Seniors Festival opens on Sunday 2 October at Federation Square. It includes more than 1500 free or low cost events throughout the month, many put on by local councils and community groups. For a full calendar visit

The Victorian Department of Health & Human Services organises the festival and encourages seniors all over the state to enjoy the wide range of activities.
