Major upgrade for Bundoora/RMIT tram
Added: 2 January 2019
Improvement works will take place at the Bundoora end of the Route 86 tram line over five weeks, enhancing safety and accessibility for the thousands of passengers travelling on this service.
The local community in addition to staff and students from RMIT University Bundoora can look forward to a better, safer and more accessible tram experience when works are completed in February.
The works are expected to take place between Monday 7 January and Monday 11 February.
The new Stop 71 (located at the corner of Plenty and Mckimmies roads) will have:
- Improved accessibility passengers with mobility needs
- Better shelters
- More seating
- New information displays
The new stop will also include tram crossover and dual tram tracks, so trams will no longer need to wait to enter the stop if another tram is already reducing your travel time.
During the works, buses will replace trams from Stop 55 (corner of Boldrewood Pde and Plenty Rd) between Saturday 2 February and Sunday 3 February.
Buses will also replace trams from Stop 67 (Bundoora Square Shopping Centre) between Monday 4 February and Monday 11 February.
The works are expected to be completed by Monday 11 February.
