Melbourne Central Station to get new, faster next generation myki readers
Added: 26 June 2015
New, faster, next-generation myki card readers are being installed on gates this weekend at Melbourne Central Station ready for passengers’ return on Monday morning.
Public Transport Victoria Director of Customer Experience Alan Fedda said the upgrade delivers an improved customer experience.
“The next-generation myki card readers are simple, easy to use and faster,” Mr Fedda said.
“To open the gate, passengers simply touch their myki card to the screen within the green circle, and the reader will light up and display a big green tick if their myki is valid.”
“These next-generation readers have so far been installed at North Melbourne, Richmond, Springvale, Mitcham, Flagstaff and Parliament stations, improving passenger flow and the experience for customers at these stations.”
