New timetable delivers more than 1,200 extra trams to Docklands: effective from Sunday 26 January
Added: 10 January 2014
Docklands workers and residents will benefit from more than 1,200 extra tram services from Australia Day on Sunday 26 January.
The Docklands precinct is one of the fastest growing residential and commercial hubs and is currently home to around 7000 residents and 29,000 workers.
The precinct is projected to grow to around 20,000 residents and 60,000 workers by 2025.
Demand for public transport in Collins Street and to Docklands has risen and this is why PTV and Yarra Trams are adding services and improving the timetables to this precinct.
Route 75 route change
To cater for this significant demand, Route 75 will operate along Flinders Street and turn right into Harbour Esplanade to terminate at Etihad Stadium, Docklands, adding 1,246 services to the Docklands precinct each week.
When combined with Route 70, this will provide a 5 minute service from Flinders Street to Docklands along Harbour Esplanade, greatly improving the frequency of tram services along Harbour Esplanade.
Passengers who previously boarded Route 75 services along Spencer Street can board the Route 75 tram on Harbour Esplanade or Flinders Street, a short tram ride away from Spencer Street.
Alternatively, passengers can catch a train from Southern Cross Station to Flinders Street, Jolimont, Hawthorn, Hartwell or Burwood stations along the route, where they can connect with Route 75 trams.

Route 11 will have 26 additional weekday services to Victoria Harbour along Collins Street. PTV and Yarra Trams will be running a more regular Route 11 during the AM and PM peak periods with services from West Preston to Victoria Harbour operating every 8 minutes. When combined with Route 48, this will provide a regular 4 minute service along Collins Street to the Docklands and will provide the additional capacity that is needed.
Timetables on routes 11, 24, 31, 48, 75, 95, 109 and 112 will change as part of the network change and passengers should check their timetable before they travel.
Bus Route 732 timetables will also change so that it continues to connect with the Route 75 tram at the Vermont South tram terminus.
The new timetables will be available online from Monday 13 January.
Collins Street extension
The $3.5 million Collins Street tram network extension works are now complete, with tram routes 11, 48 and 31 to begin operating to the new Victoria Harbour tram terminus at Dock Square.
The 450 metre westwards extension includes new tram tracks to a double track terminus with a central island platform at the intersection of Collins and Bourke streets, the first time these iconic streets will intersect.
The double track terminus will allow tram drivers to change ends more efficiently without delaying other trams.
This extension forms part of a $20 million Collins Street road, pedestrian and tram network extension project, funded by Lend Lease the developer of Docklands.
It will be an important transport link to the Docklands new civic precinct, Dock Square, which is under development and will open in various stages in the coming months.
