Hurstbridge Rail Line upgrade
Work to duplicate a 1.2 kilometre single section of track between Heidelberg and Rosanna on the Hurstbridge line is now complete, meaning more trains can operate on the line.
The duplication was undertaken as part of the Hurstbridge Rail Line Upgrade. This also included the removal of level crossings on Grange Road in Alphington and Lower Plenty Road in Rosanna, construction of a new rail tunnel alongside the existing tunnel in Heidelberg, and upgrades to power and signalling facilities.
Additionally, a new station is being built at Rosanna. Work on the station – including landscaping and car parking – will take place over coming months.
The Hurstbridge Rail Line Upgrade is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA).
