Hurstbridge Rail Line upgrade
The 2016-17 State Budget includes $140.2 million to duplicate a section of the Hurstbridge Line to enable faster, more frequent and more reliable services for Melbourne’s north east.
The project includes:
- duplication of 1.2 kilometres of single-track section between Heidelberg and Rosanna
- construction of a new rail tunnel alongside the existing tunnel in Heidelberg
- power and signalling upgrades
- removal of two level crossings at Alphington and Rosanna
The Hurstbridge Rail Line Upgrade will be delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA).
