Improving accessibility on Victoria's public transport network

PTV is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible public transport system for all Victorians and visitors to our state.

In the 2015/16 State Budget, the State Government allocated $80 million to improve and maintain the condition of Victoria’s roads and improve accessibility on public transport.

The package of infrastructure upgrades under the Road and Rail Minor Works Fund includes:

  • installation of raised platforms, shelters and tactile ground surface indicators at metropolitan train stations to provide all passengers with the ability to board and alight trains independently
  • installation of accessible toilets at stations on the metropolitan train network
