July 2018 performance results published
Large scale rail projects, feasibility studies, new train stations and upgrades to existing train stations are underway to improve Victoria’s rail network Regional Network Development Plan The Regional Network Development Plan guides the short, medium and long term priorities needed to modernise the network with more track, more train, better facilities and more services. Metro Tunnel The Melbourne Metro Tunnel [link to https://metrotunnel.vic.gov.au/] will expand the City Loop, enabling major improvements in capacity, reliability and efficiency of train lines serving Melbourne's growth areas in the north, west and south-east. Works to transform the Cranbourne Pakenham corridor The package of works to transform the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will increase capacity as well as improve reliability on one of Melbourne's busiest rail corridors. Ballarat Line upgrade The 2016-17 State Budget includes $518 million to duplicate the Ballarat line to Melton, to increase the frequency of services for the Ballarat region and Melbourne’s outer west. Flinders Street Station upgrade A $100 million investment will upgrade passenger amenities and heritage elements at Flinders Street Station. New trains The 2016-17 State Budget includes $875 million for the purchase of 28 additional high capacity metro trains and $105.2 million for five additional six-car X’Trapolis trains. New station at Southland The new station at Southland Shopping Centre will be located on the Frankston line between Highett and Cheltenham stations. Murray Basin Rail Project The Murray Basin Rail Project will deliver important upgrades to Victoria's rail freight network to meet the increasing demand for freight services. Bendigo Metro Rail Project Bendigo Metro Rail [link to https://transport.vic.gov.au/our-projects/regional-projects/#utm_source=dtpli.vic.gov.au/transport&utm_medium=vanity-url-301ssredirect&utm_content=dtpli.vic.gov.au/transport&utm_campaign=transport] aims to deliver a commuter train service for Bendigo, with an increased number of services running from Epsom, Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat to Bendigo. Rail system safety improvements Find out some of the initiatives that help maintain and enhance the safety of infrastructure on the public transport network. Improving accessibility on the network PTV is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible public transport system for all Victorians and visitors to our state. Huntingdale Station Precinct Upgrade The Huntingdale Station Precinct Upgrade project will improve the safety and appearance of the station precinct by relocating the existing bus stops and upgrading car parking facilities. Regional Rail Link Regional Rail Link has increased the size of Victoria's rail network, removing bottlenecks that cause train delays by untangling regional and metropolitan train services as they travel through Melbourne's west into the heart of the city.
